Skin Sense GP Clinic offers a private in-clinic coronavirus (COVID-19) testing service.
We offer 3 different tests, 2 in-clinic and 1 as a house kit.
All tests are undertaken in our clinic by a Doctor.
Please DO NOT attend the clinic if you have symptoms of coronavirus infection (Fever/high temperature, new/continuous cough, loss/change to sense of smell/taste)!
- Skin Sense GP Clinic provides PHE approved COVID-19 PCR tests from an UKAS accredited laboratory based in London and the results will be emailed to you within in 2 days in a PDF format.
- We can only carry out swabs in clinic for those who require a clinician to take the test and are symptom free and who have not had contact with a coronavirus case
- For example those attending an operation who require a clear swab or those requiring a fit to fly certificate.
- Please check with your airline/the destination country what the exact requirements are as they can vary greatly. Also available for Holidays, work, repatriation and emergencies.
- You are advised not to book your flight until you have received the result of your swab.
- For patients with a positive contact of coronavirus who wish a swab, or for those who have symptoms we will supply a kit for you at home
- This test includes a self-test of nasal/throat swab and an easy-to-follow guide.
- Once the swab is taken, you can post it back in the prepaid envelope provided directly to the lab. We will email back within 2 working days to let you know your result.
- Antibody tests can detect if you have had the infection in the past.
- Your symptoms must have fully cleared up for at least 14 days before we can carry out this test.
- We are pleased to offer the following Covid-19 antibody tests, performed by a doctor during a GP consultation
- The sensitivity is 100% and specificity is 97.5% With UK laboratory analysis the tests are widely acceptable for work place use.
- Results next working day.
- These tests measure IgG only. They are for patients who have had a past suspected infection of Coronavirus Covid-19.
- Evidence shows immunity can weaken over time and so you may want to repeat a test at 6 monthly intervals to see if you have maintained your antibodies.
- Results that show IgG will be shared with Public Health England by the lab directly.
