Private GP Consultations – FAQs

2. Who can book a private GP consultation?
Any patient is welcome. You do not need to be pre-registered with the clinic’s GP service.
3. How long are the consultations?
- Existing Patients and Standard consultations: 15 minutes.
- New Patient and Extended consultations (for more complex issues): 30 minutes.
4. How much does it cost?
- Existing patients: £95 for the standard appointment.
- New patients, or longer consultations: £150.
5. What happens during the consultation?
The GP will listen to your concerns, take a detailed medical and family history, perform an examination (if needed), and then discuss a plan of action which may include tests, prescriptions or referrals.
6. Can I get referrals or tests?
Yes — Skin Sense GP Clinic offers access to a wide variety of tests and can provide referrals to specialists or hospitals if needed.
7. How do I book an appointment?
You can book online via their website or call the clinic directly. Contact: 01245 206106. Address: 27 Springfield Lyons Approach, Chelmsford CM2 5LB. Dovesoft Tech+1
8. Will this affect my NHS GP?
Visiting a private GP consultation does not mean you have to leave your NHS GP. You can continue to use NHS services and also see the private GP when it suits you.
9. Is this suitable for all kinds of health concerns?
Yes for many common and non-emergency issues. However, for life-threatening or urgent emergencies (like chest pain, stroke symptoms, serious trauma) you should go to A&E or call 999 rather than waiting for a private GP consultation.
10. What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring any relevant medical information: current medications, list of allergies, any recent tests or reports, and some ID. Being prepared helps the consultation be more efficient.
